How to choose a TV in Cyprus
Pricely team · Updated 16 October 2026 · How we pick
If you're buying for a normal Cyprus living room, you'll almost certainly be happiest with a 55" or 65". Watch mostly at night? Get an OLED. Room full of afternoon sun? Get a QLED or Mini-LED, because an OLED will struggle there.
A good 55" costs around €650 in Cyprus right now and a good 65" around €1,100. One thing we see every day in our data: the exact same TV is often €100–300 cheaper at another store on the island. So pick the model first, then check who sells it cheapest.
Still stuck? Three questions settle it:
- How far is the sofa from the wall? That's your size.
- How bright is the room at 4 pm in July? That's OLED or QLED.
- How much do you want to spend? That's the brand and model.
How many inches?
Ask anyone who bought a TV last year what they'd change, and most will say "I should have gone bigger." It's also the number one reason TVs get returned. A 65" looks huge in the shop box and normal on your wall within a week.
So measure from where your eyes will be to where the screen will hang, and use this:
| Sofa to TV | Size | Typical price in Cyprus |
|---|---|---|
| Under 1.5 m (bedroom, kitchen) | 32–43" | €190–365 |
| 1.5–2 m | 50" or 55" | €475–650 |
| 2–2.6 m (most living rooms) | 55" or 65" | €650–1,100 |
| 2.6–3 m | 65" or 75" | €1,000–1,100 |
| Over 3 m | 75" or 85" | €1,000–1,800 |
Torn between two sizes? Take the bigger one. Just check it fits: a 65" is about 145 cm wide and a 75" about 168 cm, which is wider than a lot of TV units.
Interesting detail from our prices: 75 inch TVs are often no dearer than 65" ones right now. If you have the wall, it's worth a look.
OLED or QLED? Look at your windows
This is where most people get stuck, and the online arguments don't help, because both sides are right. It comes down to your room.
If your living room gets a lot of sun (and in Cyprus, most do), go for a QLED or Mini-LED. They're much brighter, so the picture still looks good with the balcony door open at 5 pm. Samsung Neo QLED, Sony Bravia 7, TCL and LG QNED are the ones to look at.
If you mostly watch in the evening, films and series with the lights low, OLED is the best picture you can buy. Blacks are truly black, and it looks right from any seat on the sofa. LG is the name most people search for here, but Sony, Samsung and Philips make good ones too. Most people shopping for one end up choosing between 55 inch OLED TVs and 65 inch OLED TVs.
For a bedroom or kitchen, a plain LED or QLED is fine. Don't overspend there.
What each type costs in Cyprus (typical price): LED €515 · QLED €535 · QNED €650 · Mini-LED €1,000 · Neo QLED €1,500 · OLED €1,800.
And "Mini-LED"? It's a QLED with thousands of tiny lights behind the screen instead of a few dozen, so the dark parts of the picture get much darker. If your room is bright and you can stretch the budget, it's the sweet spot.
What your money gets you here
- Under €500: a 43–55" LED or QLED. Good for a bedroom or a first TV.
- €500–1,100: a 55–65" QLED, QNED or entry Mini-LED. This is where most living-room TVs in Cyprus land, and where you get the most for your money.
- Over €1,100: a 65"+ OLED or Neo QLED/Mini-LED. The best picture, and the big sizes.
If you have to choose, a bigger screen with fewer extras beats a smaller premium one for most people. You notice the size every day; you rarely notice the fancy processing.
Which brand?
- LG is the TV brand people in Cyprus search for most, and the safe choice for OLED. See LG TV prices.
- Samsung is the one to beat for bright rooms, with QLED and Neo QLED. See Samsung TV prices.
- Sony has some of the best picture processing around, and charges for it. See Sony TV prices.
- TCL, Hisense and Xiaomi give you the most screen for the money. Worth a serious look under €800.
Where to buy a TV in Cyprus
These stores carry the most TVs on Pricely right now. Each link shows that store's TVs next to the other stores' prices for the same model.
- Stephanis TVs: the biggest range.
- Electroline TVs and Kotsovolos TVs: big ranges too.
- Scandia TVs and Bionic TVs: smaller ranges, worth checking on price.
A few things people forget
- Apps. Check the TV's system (Google TV, webOS or Tizen) has what you watch: Cytavision, EPIC TV, Netflix, YouTube.
- Sound. Thin TVs sound thin. If films or football matter to you, keep €150–300 aside for a soundbar.
- PS5 or Xbox? Look for 120 Hz and HDMI 2.1.
- 8K. Skip it. There's almost nothing to watch in 8K, and you pay a lot extra.
- Shop demos. Display TVs run in a showroom mode that's far brighter than your home. Don't judge by that alone.
Mistakes we see people regret
- Going too small.
- Putting an OLED in a sunny room with no curtains.
- Forgetting about sound until the first film night.
- Paying extra for labels like "AI" or "8K" instead of a better screen.
- Buying at the first price they see. The same TV can be €100–300 cheaper down the road, so compare TV prices in Cyprus before you pay.
