How to choose a fridge in Cyprus

Pricely team · Updated 18 October 2026 · How we pick

For a family of three or four, a 350–450 litre fridge-freezer is the right size; it costs about €640–850 in Cyprus right now. Check two things before you buy: that it fits (with a few centimetres of air around it) and that its climate class is ST or T, because Cyprus kitchens get hot.

What size fridge do you need?

Fridge size is the total space in litres (L), fridge and freezer together. A rough rule:

HouseholdSizeTypical price in Cyprus
Studio, office or a second fridgeUnder 150 L€160–320
1–2 people250–350 L€480–770
3–4 people350–450 L€640–850
5 or more, or big weekly shops450–550 L€880–1,170
Big kitchens (side-by-side, French door)Over 550 L€1,200–1,850

Measure the space, the door swing and every doorway the fridge has to pass through. Leave the gap the manual asks for at the back, sides and top: a fridge that can't get rid of its heat works harder all summer.

Fridge, fridge-freezer or a separate freezer?

A fridge-freezer (freezer at the bottom) suits most homes. A tall fridge with no freezer gives you much more fridge space; pair it with a separate freezer (about €320–450 for 150–250 L) if you freeze a lot, for example for a big family or after a fishing or hunting trip.

Side-by-side and French-door models add water and ice dispensers and wide shelves, but need a deep, wide space and often a water connection. Built-in fridges hide behind kitchen doors; they hold less for the money, so only buy one if your kitchen has the niche for it.

Climate class: the Cyprus summer test

Every fridge has a climate class on the label: the room temperatures it is built to work in.

  • SN and N: rooms up to 32 °C.
  • ST: up to 38 °C.
  • T: up to 43 °C.

If the fridge stands in a kitchen without air conditioning, on a veranda or in a storeroom, pick ST or T (many fridges are rated for several classes, such as SN-T). A fridge rated only N struggles in August, uses more power and can let food warm up.

No Frost, energy label and noise

No Frost means the freezer never builds up ice, so you never defrost it. In our humid climate it is worth having.

A fridge runs day and night, so its energy label matters more than on most appliances. Since 2021 labels run from A (best) to G; compare the kWh per year printed on the label. A higher class usually costs more to buy and less to run. Open-plan kitchen? Check the noise in dB: under about 38 dB is quiet.

Brands with the most choice in Cyprus

LG and Bosch have the widest ranges here: see LG fridges, Bosch fridges and Bosch fridge-freezers. Samsung fridges lead on big side-by-side models. For lower prices, look at Hisense fridges, Midea fridges and Midea fridge-freezers.

The stores with the most big appliances on Pricely are Electroline, Rolls, Savvas Eracleous, JLF Electronics and Stephanis. Before you pay, ask whether delivery, installation and taking away the old appliance are included: that can be worth more than the price gap between two stores. You can also compare all large appliance prices in Cyprus.

Questions people ask

What size fridge do I need?

About 250–350 litres for one or two people, 350–450 litres for a family of three or four, and 450 litres or more for bigger families or big weekly shops.

What does the climate class on a fridge mean?

The room temperatures the fridge is built for. In Cyprus look for ST (up to 38 °C) or T (up to 43 °C); N and SN fridges are made for rooms up to 32 °C.

How much is a fridge-freezer in Cyprus?

A 350–450 litre fridge-freezer costs about €640–850 in Cyprus right now; small fridges start at about €160 and side-by-side models cost €1,200 or more.

Is a No Frost fridge worth it?

Yes for most homes: the freezer never ices up, so you never need to defrost it, which helps in a humid climate like Cyprus.

Should I get a fridge-freezer or a separate fridge and freezer?

A fridge-freezer suits most homes. A separate tall fridge and freezer give much more space for each, which helps big families or anyone who freezes a lot.
